Japan Airlines to suspend Paris-Narita flights after attacks

The airline currently operates one round trip a day between Paris and each of the two main airports in and near Tokyo

TOKYO: Japan Airlines said Tuesday it would suspend flights between Paris and Tokyo's Narita airport from next month after demand fell about 60 percent following deadly attacks in the French city.

The airline currently operates one round trip a day between Paris and each of Haneda and Narita, the two main airports in and near Tokyo.

But the demand for flights between Paris and Narita, just outside  Tokyo, has slumped by more than half after the November 13militant attacks hit tourism, a spokesperson said.

"The airline will suspend flights between Paris and Narita from January 12 through February 29 except for several days," the spokesman told AFP.

JAL will concentrate on flights between Paris and Haneda, which has suffered about a 40 percent decline in demand, he said.

"The company will decide whether to resume the Paris-Narita flights in March after observing the situation next year," he said.
