Four months later: Hearing, speech impaired daughter allegedly raped

Police have registered a criminal case against Riaz for raping 24-year-old girl in Khanpur

HARIPUR:

A woman from Tarmakan, Khanpur said her daughter, who suffers from both hearing and speech impairment, was raped four months ago. Askar Jan, according to Khanpur police, said her daughter told her about her traumatic assault after she took Ammara* to the doctor when the mother noticed she looked pregnant.

A  Khanpur police official told The Express Tribune Askar Jan says her 24-year-old daughter who was raped has been unable to hear or speak since birth.  According to police reports, the accused rapist belongs to the same village as the young woman.

Police quoted Aksar as saying her daughter was alone at home when Riaz, son of Jan Muhammad entered her house and raped Ammara. “She did not bring the issue to light. However, when I noticed physical changes in Ammara’s body, I got her examined from a local birth attendant who confirmed she was four months pregnant.” Police registered a criminal case against Riaz under Section 376 of the PPC.
