Under investigation: Man remanded for raping girl in Mansehra

18-year-old was found lying unconscious on floor on October 4

MANSEHRA: A man accused of raping a girl has been remanded for further investigation in Mansehra on Friday, a police official told The Express Tribune.

Haider Zaman had obtained bail before arrest from a local court earlier this year.

“However, it was cancelled on Thursday and the accused was arrested from the court premises,” the official added. He has been placed in police custody for the next two days.

According to the Shinkiari police, Zaman entered Syed Sakhi Shah’s house when all family members were away and raped his 18-year-old daughter on October 4. The woman was suffering from a disability.

When the family returned home, they found lying unconscious on the floor. Upon enquiry, they found out Zaman, who belongs to the same village as Syed Sakhi, had raped her.

Police registered a criminal case against Zaman after a medical report confirmed that she had been raped.

The accused had moved out of the village after obtaining bail before arrest.
