Maqsood claims six to give side 125-run first-innings lead in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy

KARACHI: A six-wicket haul by Waqas Maqsood helped Wapda restrict HBL to just 87 in their first innings round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

HBL resumed their innings on 5-2 and added just 82 runs in 46.2 overs as Maqsood claimed six wickets, to give Wapda a 125-run lead in the first innings. At the end of play, Wapda were batting on 109-2.

At the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot, NBP dismissed KRL for 176, with Ahmed Jamal claiming five. At the end of the day’s play, NBP were in deep trouble after losing six wickets for just 84 runs in their second innings as Muhammad Abbas took five wickets for just 29 runs. NBP have a slender 46-run lead.

Peshawar were unable to follow up their impressive bowling performance in the first innings with the bat at the Arbab Niaz Stadium as Islamabad’s Shahzad Alam took six wickets to restrict the hosts to 170. At the end of play, Islamabad were 96-1 in their second innings to take their lead to 55.

An unbeaten 185 by Waqas Saleem helped Lahore Blues to 322-6 in the first innings against Hyderabad.

At the National Stadium of Karachi, Muhammad Waqas scored 137 runs with Jaahid Ali making 96 as Karachi Whites made 300 against Fata. The visitors were then dismissed for just 141 and were asked to follow on. Fata were batting on 145-1 at stumps.

Meanwhile, at the Diamond Ground in Islamabad, SSGC were batting on 122-5, still trailing Port Qasim by 161 runs.

At the Pindi Stadium, SNGPL were batting on 168-5 against UBL and already have a 36-run first-innings lead.

At the LCCA Stadium in Lahore, Rawalpindi dismissed hosts Lahore Whites for 201 as Haseeb Azam took six wickets.
