Police have registered an FIR against 19 for attacking Ludhianvi’s house

Sardar Abdul Qadir Khosa has been nominated chairman of the district council in Dera Ghazi Khan. He is supported by MNA Hafiz Abdul Karim and MNA Sardar Amjad Farooq Khosa.


Prominent political groups have started nominating their candidates for positions of mayor and chairman of the municipal corporation and municipal committee. They have also been lobbying for technocrat seats.

A session was organised at the office of MNA Dr Hafiz Abdul Karim in this regard. MPA Syed Abdul Aleem Shah and other political leaders participated in the meeting.

MNA Sardar Amjad Farooq Khan Khosa’s son Sardar Abdul Qadir Khan Khosa has been nominated as the group’s candidate for chairman of the district council and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Punjab Youth Wing leader Usama Abdul Karim as vice chairman.

Some of the participants of the meeting told The Express Tribune that 46 members had supported the decision and more supporters are being contacted.

Law and order

Police said they had arrested 25 people for creating a law and order situation on polling day in Dera Ghazi Khan.

They said 113 suspects had been nominated in nine cases involving attacks on public offices, interfering in matters of the state and for trying to intimidate voters.

Police said among those arrested were Sheikh Muhammad Iqbal, a candidate for chairman, two candidates for vice-chairman Wajid Ali and Rana Islam and Shafiqur Rehman, a candidate for councillor.

In Jhang district, Kotwali Police have registered a case against 19 people for attacking and throwing stones at Rah-i-Haq chief Maulana Ahmad Saeed Ludhianvi’s house on polling day.

The case has been registered on a complaint filed by Muhammad Akram, who said he was at Ludhianvi’s house with Imtaiz Ahmad, when some armed men gathered in front of the house and shouted slogans against Ludhianvi and the Rah-i-Haq group.

He said the attackers scuffled with police officials at the house. Malik Muhammad Saeed, Bilal Ahmad, Amir Hussain, Amar, Sami, Sameer, Hamza, and Mahmood Ahmad have been nominated among others accused of removing posters and banners from the house. “They also fired gunshots.”

Kotwali police have registered a case against 19 nominated people and more than two dozen unidentified people.

Police said they were gathering evidence regarding the incident. “The culprits will be taken to task, however, no one has been arrested so far.”
