QUETTA: At least eight people were killed and 15 more were injured in a road accident in Balochistan’s Lasbela district on Thursday.

A passenger coach travelling to Karachi from Quetta collided head-on with a truck in the Weel Phat area of Bela, district authorities said.


Eight people died on the spot while the 15 injured were taken to a nearby hospital by the police and paramilitary Levies personnel. The bodies were shifted to the Edhi morgue.


Medics said the death toll was expected to rise as the condition of some of the injured passengers was critical.


Police claimed the bus driver was speeding and his carelessness caused the accident. An investigation has been launched into the matter.


Around 17 more people were injured in a road accident near Methari Sarawan Hotel in Bolan district.
