California shooting motive not yet known, terror 'possible': Obama

The president said it's possible that the incident was workplace-related

WASHINGTON DC: US President Barack Obama on Thursday said the motivation for a deadly shooting in California was not yet known, but a terror attack could not be ruled out.

"At this stage, we do not yet know why the terrible event occurred," Obama said.

"We don't know at this point the extent of their plans. We do not know their motivations.

"It is possible that this was terrorist-related. But we don't know. It's also possible that this was workplace-related," the president said.

At least 14 dead in shooting at California disabled center

He also ordered flags on government buildings, embassies and military installations to be flown at half-staff until Monday, following the incident that killed at least 14 people.

The order came in a presidential proclamation issued to "honor the victims of the attack in San Bernardino, California."
