KARACHI: Umair Jaswal is on a roll!

After enthralling an excited audience at a private show last week, Umair gave his fans another treat by arranging an exclusive event on Sunday night.

Held at Pakistan American Cultural Centre (PACC), the show saw a flood of people as the crowd exceeded beyond the venue's capacity.

Far from hitting rock bottom

Eager fans waited for the night to begin as singer Ali Chandio took the stage for his opening act. Following which Umair, along with his band members -- Zain Ali, Rahail Siddiqui, Asfandyar Ahmed and Ali Asghar -- uplifted everyone's spirits with their diverse set list.

It included some of their hits such as Sherezade, Halaak, Ishq, Tere Liye and a signature cover of Vital Sign’s Dil Dil Pakistan and Junoon’s Jazba Junoon.

Sammi Meri Waar: ‘I received hate mail after the song’

The two highly-anticipated tracks for the night, Charkha No Lakha and Sammi Meri Waar of Coke Studio fame, blew the crowd away so much that the rockstar was forced to perform the latter twice.

Sharing his experience with Karachiites, Umair told The Express Tribune, “Karachi has always been my favourite place to perform. The love and warmth is dreamlike.”

“I am lucky to have such amazing fans. I love performing for them and I love it even more when they are equally interactive,” he added. The singer also praised his band line up for their exuberance.

On receiving exceptional response for Sammi Meri Waar during both his shows, Umair said, “I had no idea it would turn out to be a massive hit among the audience.”

With an insane amount of energy present in the air, Umair ended up being mobbed by his fans. But he still appreciates the love he had received. “It’s scary but I guess it’s just a way of showing how much they love you,” he said, quipping, “I wish one day I could mob them too.”
