Shireen Mazari defends daughter's decision to vote for PML-N over PTI

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Central Information Secretary Shireen Mazari lashed out at critics who questioned her daughter's decision to vote for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the Islamabad local body elections held today.

“Abusing me because my daughter cast her vote on her choice is fascistic. I am PTI but it does not obligate my family. Democracy means free choice,” Mazari said on Twitter.

Mazari’s daughter, Imaan Hazir, caused an uproar after she tweeted that she voted for the PML-N.

“Just an FYI: I voted for minorities and PML-N,” Imaan said on her Twitter account.

Further, Mazari’s daughter lashed out at PTI supporters saying, “You converted Islamabad into a public toilet for 'democracy' and you’re abusing my mother because I exercised my right to vote?"

Imaan also tweeted a picture of her after casting her vote and said her vote was "very different" from her father's.

Hamza Ali Abbasi turns social media into a war zone

This is not the first time, Mazari has had to face ‘abuse’ after her daughter’s tweets. Earlier this month, Imaan tweeted in favour of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq leading to a “stream of abuse.”

Right after i tweet about Ayaz Sadiq, i get a message from my mother asking what ive said because shes getting a stream of abuse.

Imaan also defended PML-N supporters saying she and her mother have never been abused by them. "I criticise PML-N as well but have never been abused by its supporters. Nor have they abused my mother," she said.

That's another story that how he despises IK and PTI today and straightly tells everyone that he had cast vote to the wrong person in the election. However, it's everyone's free choice. usman778 | 8 years ago | Reply It is okay for members of the same family to vote for different parties. The idea is that everyone gets a chance to vote based on their individual preferences. It is even better that members of a politicians' family dissent. This means people are selecting for their constituency not their family. It means vote is not based on nepotism and birardri which has been so deterimental to Pakistani society. It is also good if you vote for a BETTER parliamentarian than a specific party. No party has a monopoly on angels and no party has a monopoly on devils... though some come close. 300 good parliamentarians are better than a majority from your party of choice. These are signs of political and democratic maturity. The best course of action in my opinion is to research and seek out the best performing MNA's regardless of the political party and vote for them on the basis of merit, performance, potential, character and NOT piety, family name, birardi, ethnicity etc.

I said one thing that when you cast your vote for your PTI you exercise your right and if I do the same for my part then I am someone who doesn't understand the system. Well we all should respect for others and Mother should always stand for their kids. And these guys were constantly crying that despite their very close working relationship to MQM, their families had decided to vote for PTI.
