The university students are in Kuala Lumpur to participate in an Asia wide fuel efficiency contest and the patriotism they have displayed here is not of the cliched 'jazba-e-janoon' or 'dil dil pakisan' brand - it is real. There are no jingoistic undercurrents or nationalistic desires to prove that Pakistan is 'better than you' rather there is mature realisation that it is time for us to become a responsible member of the global community.

How can these feudal lords ever let their subjects seek education without being threatened by their enlightenment? Unfortunately, Pakistan’s political arena has become a great circus with the political elite making a mockery of the educational system and ethics.

Every day is another battle for our sanity as we experience a way of life besieged with crises upon crises. We see our people desperate for the most basic of amenities, that were always their right to begin with. We see bodyparts flying all over on national television, along with our sense of security.

When I was a child I once came home from school and asked my mom if I was Punjabi or Urdu speaking, my mom replied: We are Pakistanis and that is the only thing that matters. I will forever thank her for teaching me that, because it made me realise Pakistan is my home and no matter what people say it will always be my home.

Host: So how do you view the current turmoil in Pakistan? Rep: Alhamdulillah our government in Punjab is working wonders. Host: What about the terrorists that are rumored to be camped in Punjab? Rep: These are mere conspiracies pitched by those you are well aware of *wink*
