LAHORE: Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza of Lahore High Court (LHC) has stayed the construction of a grid station at Journalists’ Colony. Muhammad Shahid Attari, a resident of the colony, has challenged the installation of a grid station on its land submitting that it would cause environmental pollution. He said it was being built in violation of a law under which residential land could not be acquired for such projects. The petitioner told the judge that the provincial government had acquired 35 kanals for the grid station. He requested the court to declare the project illegal and order the government to stop its execution. The judge has issued notices to the provincial government and the Lahore Electric Supply Company.
