Criminal investigation: New forensic laboratory established in Swat

At least 17 personnel have been trained through the Punjab Forensic Science Agency in Lahore

A new forensic science laboratory (FSL) has been inaugurated in Swat, stated a press release issued on Thursday. The initiative seeks to support Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police expediting investigation through the use of modern techniques.


The inauguration ceremony was hosted by FSL Director Muhammad Quresh Khan, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Pakistan Country Director Marc-André Franche and Swiss Ambassador Marc Pierre George, among others.


As per the document, the project has been funded by K-P government in collaboration with Switzerland and Netherlands.“Training and equipment have been provided by UNDP,” stated the press release.


“FSL is an important milestone for the UNDP initiative to strengthen rule of law,” the press release quoted Franche as saying. “This institution will speed up the disposal of cases, improve service delivery and build trust in the police and the justice system.”


“At least 17 personnel have been trained through the Punjab Forensic Science Agency in Lahore to bring the laboratory at par with international standards,” it added.
