LARKANA: Rice growers of Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot districts have been protesting against very low rates of paddy and atrocities of rice millers to the growers. It may be noted that the Circuit Court Larkana has already ordered for paddy to be procured at the rate of Rs900 per 40kg but order has yet to be implemented as traders offer Rs600-700 per 40kg. Deputy Commissioner Qambar-Shahdadkot Captain (Retired) Anwarul Haq held meeting with the growers and traders. The growers reiterated their complaints of low rates, unlawful deduction of paddy on arrival of the load at the mills and not being given proper receipt of the sold crop. Consequently, Haq directed the millers that no cutting of paddy will be tolerated adding proper receipt be issued to the peasants.
