KARACHI:

Mohajir Qaumi Movement — Haqiqi (MQM-H) chairperson Afaq Ahmad alleged that his rival party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), always wins elections by the use of arms, and dismissed the rumours that he was joining the party.

The party leader said that he has written a letter to Rangers DG, asking him to arrest the people who use weapons and arms to force the people to vote for MQM during the local government elections. "Our candidates should be provided protection and Rangers should be deployed inside the polling stations during the elections," Ahmad said while addressing a press conference at his house on Wednesday.

Ahmad denied the speculations that he was joining the MQM and said that he had no relations with it and will neither establish any relations. He called this a conspiracy to snatch their votes and said that he was not against one person but was against the policies of the MQM.

"MQM is engaged in weapons' politics across the city, while we want to make this city into a developed place," Ahmad said, critising the policies of MQM.

The MQM-H leader also complained about the attacks on his party offices. He alleged that the MQM members, who had gone underground during the operation, had reemerged and were now intimidating MQM-H workers and supporters. Ahmad added that MQM's agenda of a new province was nothing but to fool the masses.
