RAWALPINDI: A nursing student was found dead in her hostel room at the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) on Monday.

Hospital administration and police said Andleeb Siddiq, a fourth-year nursing student, was found dead in her bed on Monday. She had performed night duty in the urology department before she returned to her hostel room on Monday morning.

Siddiq, who hailed from Gujar Khan, was said to have suffered a heart attack.

BBH Medical Superintendent Dr Asif Qadir Mir said the student was alright during her duty. In the morning, she returned to her room and went to bed. At about 12noon, her roommate found her dead, Mir said.

The body was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) for postmortem. Doctors at the DHQ said the student died of a heart attack. They also said that her family had a history of heart failures.

Samples from stomach of the body have been sent to Lahore for chemical examination to ascertain whether or not she was poisoned.

Waris Khan police SHO Inspector Abid Khan said the police were waiting for the final post-mortem report.
