RAWALPINDI: A special anti-narcotics court on Wednesday ordered the police to register a case against an Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) inspector for allegedly torturing and burning a suspected drug peddler. Judge Chaudhry Anwar Khan passed the order after the court was informed that ANF Inspector Munir Abid falsely implicated minority activist Gibran Gul and tortured him before putting him behind bars. Gul’s counsel Asad Abbasi told the court that the ANF inspector falsely implicated his client and thrashed him to get a confession under duress. When his client still refuted the accusation, his private parts were burnt, adding that a medical board report has confirmed the torture Gul underwent. The judge ordered the Airport police station house officer to register a case against the inspector and also record the statement of Gul, who has been languishing in a jail. The court also sought a complaint report.
