Academic facilities: Portugese embassy representative visits PU library

 Joao Paulo Sabido from the Embassy of Portugal, visited the library of the Punjab University Sunday.


He visited various sections of the library and appreciated the academic environment at the facility.

Chief Librarian Haseeb Ahmad Piracha told him that the Punjab University had the largest e-library in the country with 65,000 books online.

He said with the collaboration of Higher Education Commission (HEC), a large number of books been made available online for teachers and researchers.

He said steps were being taken to encourage the reading habit among students.  He said some 10,000 books were being added annually to the main library at the university.

He said a database for the books available at the PU library had been uploaded on the website.

“We have some rare collections and volumes. Reference books are also available,” he said.
