PESHAWAR: To bolster capacity-building in the departments of education and health in Fata through its Strategic Support Unit (SSU), United Nations Development Program has approved an additional amount of a million Pounds. This was shared in a handout issued from the Governor House on Monday. According to the statement, the additional budget for UNDP’s Strategic Support Unit has been revised from £1.5 million to £2.5 million for fiscal year 2015-16. The unit will help the administration of the FATA Secretariat to make its departments more efficient and effective. It will also support the secretariat in capacity-building, thereby promoting education, improving health conditions and boosting the economy in Fata. SSU will also ensure the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure and rehabilitation of displaced families to their native towns in the tribal areas. At a meeting held earlier with UNDP officials, Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed stressed on the need of more funds to boost rehabilitation strategies in Fata.
