KARACHI: Lashing out at the Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H), the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) claimed that ‘terrorists’ of its rival party enjoying official patronage are involved in crimes in Landhi. Addressing a press conference at MQM’s Landhi sector office on Thursday, MNA Asif Hasnain said that men from the MQM-H are charging extortion from shopkeepers and are threatening those who are not paying them. Hasnain also said Haqiqi workers are threatening MQM workers at their homes. On August 29, armed men broke into the MQM office and asked about the whereabouts of an activist, he said. “By remaining silent and giving them protection, the law enforcement agencies are insulting MQM’s mandate,” he said. The party urged the federal and the provincial governments to take action.
