Business venture: Open varsity to set up ‘entrepreneurship centre’

Students of the two universities will be allowed to use their respective labs, libraries and other academics

The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will soon set up an ‘entrepreneurship centre’ on its main campus to help guide students undertake business ventures.


The centre will also encourage young researchers to come up with innovative ideas for the development of industrial sector as well as set up their own businesses, said AIOU Vice-Chancellor Prof Shahid Siddiqui while signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Government College Women University Sialkot Vice-Chancellor Dr Farhat Saleemi here on Thursday, said a press release.

“It is the responsibility of universities to ensure application of the gained knowledge and academic output for the betterment of society,” Dr Siddiqui said adding that the AIOU will welcome other institutions for joint collaboration to promote research in the country.

Under the MoU, the two universities will collaborate in multiple areas of research and help each other to strengthen their faculties. The two varsities will also work jointly to find out indigenous solution to the industrial development.

Students of the two universities will be allowed to use their respective labs, libraries and other academic infrastructure to boost their knowledge and expertise in relevant fields.

PARC, GCWU to work together

The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and the Government Women University Sialkot (GCWU) have signed an MoU to collaborate in scientific research.

According to the MoU, signed by PARC Secretary Dr Munir Ahmad and GCWU Vice-Chancellor Dr Farhat Saleemi, both the institutes will pursue joint scientific research and technological development programmes in selected areas.

According to the MoU, internees of the GCWU would be facilitated at PARC labs for their research projects while the GCWU would help facilitate PARC scientists on research activities in Sialkot.
