PESHAWAR/ SHANGLA:

Amid warnings by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, a rainstorm with recorded winds of up to 55 kilometres per hour lashed Peshawar.

An active weather system developed in the region that could result in a hailstorm, said the spokesperson for the meteorological department. “The expected speed of the winds could reach to 50-60 knots,” he added.

“The weather system gathered over Peshawar was expected,” Met office director Mushtaq Ahmad Khan told The Express Tribune.

On the other hand in Besham, a police residential quarter and several other poorly made constructions were washed away by seasonal streams that sprung after a heavy rain in Shangla and its surrounding areas on Sunday evening.
