Higher education: PU Faculty of Life Sciences gets new dean

Dr Khan is a professor in the PU Zoology Department and has been teaching for 30 years

Former Punjab University registrar Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan has been appointed the dean for Faculty of Life Sciences, a notification issued by the Higher Education Department (HED) on Friday says.


Dr Khan is a professor in the PU Zoology Department and has been teaching for 30 years. He has served as the chairman of two teaching departments at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) and as director at the provincial government’s Fisheries Department between 1986 and 2003, in the office of dean at UVAS from 2003 to 2004 and as registrar at the PU from 2005 to 2010. Dr Khan has represented Pakistan at a conference organised by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Office (FAO) in Italy in January, 2015, where he presented a research paper titled Decline in Freshwater Natural Resources and Future of Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture: Threatened Livelihood and Food Security in Indus Valley, Pakistan. He received a financial assistance award for the paper.

In 2014, he received the Nor-Fishing Foundation Award in Norway, the American Fisheries Society Award in Mexico, the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) Award in Australia.
