KARACHI:

A three-member FIFA mission arrived in Lahore on Friday to investigate the ongoing crisis in the Pakistan football Federation (PFF).

The mission includes Primo Corvaro, who is a FIFA representative, an AFC official and president of the Cyprus Football Association.

The PFF has been under controversy after breaking out into two factions — one led by Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, who has been in the office since 2003, while the other group is led by Arshad Lodhi and Farasat Ali Shah.

The opponents of Hayat’s administration claimed to have ousted him at a PFF Extraordinary Congress in June, just two weeks before the scheduled elections on June 30.

The two parties remained at loggerheads, as Lodhi and Farasat took the case to the Lahore High Court, which subsequently sent out a stay order on the June 30 elections, but Hayat still went ahead with the elections at Changla Gali under the supervision of an AFC official.
