PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has imposed a ban on the collection of fitra and zakat by banned outfits. The decision was taken after donation camps set up by various such organisations mushroomed across the city. Under the garb of welfare, several such outfits have put up advertisements in different areas, calling for zakat and fitra donations in the name of the poor. The government has vowed to take strict action against any such outlawed organisation found involved in zakat collection. According to a home department official, all divisional commissioners, DIGs and other officials concerned have been instructed in this regard via a notification.
