Brain-eating amoeba: Naegleria claims another life

KARACHI: Another person was killed by the brain-eating amoeba Naegleria Fowleri, taking the death toll in the province to 10 since April. Owais, a 23-year-old resident of Umerkot district, was initially taken to a public hospital in Hyderabad when he fell sick but was later moved to Ziauddin Hospital in Clifton on July 2 in critical condition. An official from the hospital said that he died during treatment the next day, adding that the medical reports confirmed that naegleria was the cause of death.
