July 5 Preps: Opposition calls on DC, DPO Swabi

A committee headed by ANP’s Rahman has been set up to hold the negotiations

SWABI: Leaders of four different opposition parties called on DC Matiullah Khan and DPO Sajjad Khan to request deployment of police officials and transparency during the July 5 re-polls announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan. They urged the DC, who will act as the DRO, to ensure impartial electoral staffers are appointed. Awami National Party’s Amir Rahman, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s Maulana Ataul Haq Darwesh, Pakistan Peoples Party’s Javed Iqbal Khan Inqilabi and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Iftikhar Ahmad Khan were amongst the prominent attendees. They assured the police officials of full compliance with the code of conduct. Earlier the tripartite alliance and PML-N held a meeting regarding poll preparations and cooperation in re-polls. Jamaat-e-Islami and Qaumi Watan Party were also taken on board in this regard. A committee headed by ANP’s Rahman has been set up to hold the negotiations.
