A man killed on Monday his daughter who had left home to marry a man in Toba Tek Singh.


Nawan Lahore Sub Inspector Tahir Mehmood told The Express Tribune that Myra*, a resident of Chak 347-JB, had wanted to marry Gulzar, a resident of Wazirabad.

He said they had gone away to get married.

He said later, a punchayat of family elders had intervened and brought Myra back to her parents’ house.

He said Ashraf, her father, had beaten her and told her to stop seeing Gulzar.

He said following an argument, Ashraf strangled her and had her buried within a few hours.

Mehmood said some of the neighbours had called the police, saying they believed she had been killed.

He said police had registered a case and arrested Ashraf who had confessed to killing his daughter.

Separately, a man was found dead at his house in Millat Town in Faisalabad on Monday.

The Millat Town SHO said 20-year-old Ehsan Ali, a resident of Chak 202-RB Gatti, was found dead at his house in the morning.

He said his family had told police that he had committed suicide. He said police had found bruises around his throat and suspected that he had been strangled.

He said the body had been sent to the morgue for post mortem examination.

Separately, a man in Kharkhan village shot and killed his 25-year-old brother after an argument over cutting fodder near Chenab Nagar police station in Chiniot. Police said a case had been registered and they were looking for the suspect.
