Fraud Case: Court extends remand of KMC officials

At the end of their previous remand, FIA brought the suspects before the court and sought extension in their custody

KARACHI: A district court extended on Monday the physical remand of seven suspects, including officials of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. The Federal Investigation Agency had arrested KMC’s education director Mansoor Mirza, his predecessor Muhammad Amin, deputy director Raziuddin, assistant director Muhammad Mazhar, clerks Hassan Ahmed and Naveed James and a bank officer Aleem Qadri on June 17 for allegedly embezzling millions of rupees by drawing salaries of ghost employees. At the end of their previous remand, FIA brought the suspects before the court and sought extension in their custody. District Malir’s judicial magistrate Muhammad Ali Memon granted a four-day extension in the physical remand and asked the investigating officer to bring a progress report on June 26.
