KARACHI: Three militants were killed in crossfire with the police on Sunday night during a raid conducted in Lyari's Kalakot area, Express News reported. 

Sources stated that while the police were conducting a regular search operation in the conflict ridden area of Karachi, suspected militants from Lyari gang war appeared from one of the houses and began firing at the police.

The cross fire resulted in three militants losing their lives who the sources said were involved in the attack on Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) and Sindh Minister for Kutchi Abadis Javed Nagori. Javed lost his brother in the attack.

Initial reports further revealed that the three militants were associated with the Aziz Baloch group.

Earlier last month, Pakistan Peoples Party MPA's brother was killed in an attack in Lyari, Mujahid Jan, the brother of another senior PPP member from Lyari was shot dead in the area on Saturday evening.

Jan was the brother of Habib Jan, the chairman of the Friends of Lyari group. Habib is a senior member of the PPP in Lyari and played a vital role in the now defunct Peoples Amn Committee.
