7 security officials injured in Mohmand Agency IED blast

Political administration offical says Bajaur Scouts were enroute when blast occurred

GHALLANAI: Seven security officials were injured in an improvised explosive devices (IED) blast in Ghungat Jour area of Safi Tehsil Safi, Mohmand Agency on Wednesday.

The officials belonging to Bajaur Scouts were enroute from the border post Nava pass to Bajaur Agency when IEDs planted on the way exploded.

“Seven officials were injured and shifted to Mamad Gat Hospital in Safi for first aid,” a political administration official said.

Soon after the incident, police cordoned off the area and began a search operation.

Earlier this month, a peace committee volunteer was killed  when an IED blast took off in Alingar area of Safi Tehsil, Mohmand Agency.

According to a political administrative official, the IED was planted along the roadside when it went off, killing peace committee leader Zawar Hussain.
