Targeted: Peace committee member killed in IED attack

Zawar Hussain became victim of the blast caused by the explosives planted on the roadside

Yet another peace committee member was killed on Thursday as an improvised explosive device went off in Alingar, near the border of Mohmand and Bajaur agencies.


According to an official of the political administration, Zawar Hussain, a peace committee volunteer, was in Alingar, Safi tehsil, Mohmand when the IED planted by the roadside exploded. Hussain died on the spot.


The official added the political administration arrived at the site and cordoned it off. A search operation was initiated and seven suspects were arrested. Another powerful IED was also defused in the area.


No group had claimed responsibility for the attack till this report was filed.
