PESHAWAR:

Peshawar Deputy Commissioner Riaz Mehsud has instructed printing presses to remain closed on May 30, the polling day for local government elections.

He said strict action will be taken against those violating orders of the district administration.

A delegation of the Printing Press Association (PPA), led by its president, Zafar Khattak, met the DC on Monday.

“PPA has played an active role in conducting free and fair elections,” Mehsud told the delegation. He stressed the association should take the names of fake ballot paper publishers. However, the PPA president ensured various teams have been formed to keep a check on such elements. Khattak also said anyone involved in printing fake ballots would be reported.

syed & syed | 8 years ago | Reply By closing the printing presses on the day of polling is not the answer. It takes time to start a printing process. The paper must have been printed and now must be in the hands of those who are in habit of using unfair means. The answer is supervision of the polling stations.
