Crippling virus: Charsadda’s first polio case reported

After running laboratory tests on the sample obtained from the toddler, health officials confirmed the disease

A new polio case has been confirmed from Charsadda district where a toddler has contracted the crippling virus. This is the first case reported from the district this year.


According to health officials, the presence of the virus was confirmed in 26-month-old Muhammad Raheem. He is the son of Tariq Raheem and belongs to Sheikhan Kandar village in Matta union council, Mughal Khel.


After running laboratory tests on the sample obtained from the toddler, health officials confirmed the disease.


The latest case has pushed Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s tally to 10 so far, while a total of 23 cases have been reported in the country. Last month, a polio case was reported from Mardan where an eight-month-old was tested positive for the virus.
