Crime scene: Four killed, three injured in Karak

KARAK: Four people were killed while three others were injured in two separate incidents in Karak on Sunday.

A proclaimed offender and a police constable were killed while three others, including an SHO, were injured during an exchange of fire in Alamsheri area of Latamber, Karak.

According to Karak police PRO Adil Khan, Latamber police officers raided a house in Alamsheri after they were tipped off on the whereabouts of Hussain, a proclaimed offender. The PRO said Hussain was wanted by police for 20 cases, including murder and attempted murder.

“When he realised the police had surrounded his hideout, he tried to escape,” he said. “Hussain opened fire on the police. As a result, constable Sher Ayaz died on the spot while three others, including Latamber SHO Izhar Ali, were injured.

According to Khan, police retaliated and gunned Hussain down. He added police also recovered four hand grenades, an SMG rifle, pistol, cartridges and a pocket phone from his possession.

The police official said the injured were rushed to DHQ Hospital, Karak.

In a separate incident, two people were killed over an old enmity. An official of Sabirabad police said Dr Beraaj and Amal Nawaz, residents of Chinikhel, were travelling on their motorcycle when Shahidullah and Ajmeen Badshah allegedly opened fire on them.

The official added Beraaj died on the spot while Nawaz succumbed to his injuries three hours after he was shifted to the hospital. Police lodged an FIR against Shahidullah and Ajmeen Badshah.
