Poor state: Ombudsman takes notice of Murree roads

The Punjab Ombudsman, while taking note of dilapidated roads in Murree District, has directed the secretary Communication and Works and DCO Rawalpindi to submit a report on the issue within 15 days.


Ombudsman Javed Mahmood, citing media reports, pointed out in a letter that the roads of the hill station, which had been constructed at a cost of over Rs17.50 billion a few year ago, have turned into ditches as a result of the recent rains and snowfall.

The C&W Department constructed the Lawrence College Bansra Gali Bypass Road in 2012 for Rs173.7 million but its has been closed due to its dilapidated state.
