Cut off: Wapda pulls the plug on water supply tubewells

As many as 42 housing schemes were affected when power supply for eight tubewells was suspended.

Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) on Wednesday disconnected electricity supply to tube wells providing drinking water to Dera Ghazi Khan city over the non-payment of Rs250 million in electricity bills.


As many as 42 housing schemes were affected when power supply for eight tubewells was suspended.

WAPDA Xen Imran Majeed Jakhar said the TMA had defaulted over Rs250 million and had been issued notices in this regard many times.

A spokesman for the TMA said the Dera Ghazi Khan commissioner had been informed about the situation and funds would be made available soon to clear the bill.
