ISLAMABAD: A judicial magistrate issued notices on Tuesday to the prosecutors and complainant’s counsel for arguments over a report submitted by the jail superintendent saying that Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi could not be produced before the court due to security concerns. Lakhvi, a senior figure in the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba group, was also allegedly involved in planning, financing and executing the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Lakhvi’s counsel said that the suspect’s presence was essential for indictment and it was up to the authorities to provide security and produce him before the court. The hearing was adjourned till April 4.
