Ingale qualifies for women’s squash event

The Indian player beats Zoya 3-0 in the qualifiers in Rawalpindi

KARACHI: India’s Sachita Ingale reached the main round of the 2nd Bahria Town International Women’s Squash Championship as she beat Zoya Khalid 3-0 in their final qualifier in Rawalpindi.

Zoya resisted in the first game but was unable to put up a fight in the second and third, losing by scores of 13-11, 11-3 and 11-4.

Sadia Gul, who was awarded a victory over Rushna Mehboob in the first qualifying match after her opponent injured her, made a strong comeback to beat Anam Mustafa in straight games with a scoreline of 11-4, 11-7 and 11-2.

Moqaddas Ashraf won 3-0 against Amna Latif, while Egypt’s Amina Yousry defeated Riffat Khan by scores of 11-8, 11-1 and 11-7.

The main round of the event will begin on Wednesday. South Africa’s Siyoli Waters is the top seed in the competition while Egypt’s Nadine Shahin is the second seed.
