FC kill 5 suspected militants in Mastung search operation

Suspects accused of attacking eight oil tankers and abducting the drivers on March 23

QUETTA: Five members of Balochistan Republican Army (BRA) were killed while six others were injured during a search operation in Mastung district on Sunday.  

The suspects were accused of attacking eight oil tankers and abducting the drivers on March 23. The oil tankers were on the way to Saindak Copper and Gold Project in Balochistan from Karachi when they were attacked.

Carried out on a tip-off, the search was conducted in the Kirdgap area and resulted in an exchange of fire between security forces and the BRA members.

The FC personnel managed to recover kidnapped drivers during the operation.

“Peace in the province is our priority for which we will fight militants till the very end,” FC spokesperson told The Express Tribune.

The motive behind attacking oil tankers and spilling thousands of litres of oil on the highway still remains unknown.
