LAKKI MARWAT/ BANNU: Residents of Lakki Marwat and Bannu protested against prolonged power outages on Thursday. Activists from Jamaat-e-Islami, Awami National Party, trader unions and other socio-political organisations took to the streets against the 20-hour outages witnessed every day in their respective areas. JI Lakki Marwat chief Sabz Ali said power outages during board exams are tantamount to destroying the future of the children. He added every citizen cannot afford alternative power sources. Meanwhile, Bannu Chamber of Commerce President Shah Wazir Khan said business activity is on the verge of extinction, thanks to Peshawar Electric Supply Company’s apathy. A jirga was also held in Bannu in this regard where attendees warned if the government did not resolve the issue, they will start a movement against it.
