20-year-old Khanewal resident joined the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf after a sex realignment surgery on Wednesday.

Samreen Shaheen was renamed Asad Ullah after the third and final surgery. The earlier two procedures were carried out last week and last December, respectively, after Asad Ullah was diagnosed with abnormal hormone levels.

Dr Aslam Gondol, who performed the surgeries at private healthcare facility in Vehari, said the patient had been referred to him with abnormal hormone levels.

Asad Ullah said he now wished to work for empowerment of women in the country. He said he had been in touch with the PTI district leadership for the purpose since his first surgery.

Faisal Niazi, member of the PTI Khanewal executive committe, said Asad Ullah soon would be given an office in the district women empowerment cell after approval from the PTI Punjab executive committee on women’s rights.

Sami | 9 years ago | Reply @ET this is extremely biased and condemnable reporting. It was his personal decision of sex change, so what? and you are dragging here PTI to give people somewhat bad impression of party. You cannot mislead nation.
