Transitions: Sindhi singer laid to rest

The body was brought to Mithi from Karachi on Thursday morning.

HYDERABAD: Popular Sindhi singer Sadiq Faqir, who died in a road accident in Saudi Arabia on February 25, was laid to rest in Mithi, Tharparkar, on Thursday. Thousands of people, including writers, poets, singers, activists and politicians attended the funeral. The body was brought to Mithi from Karachi on Thursday morning. Faqir, 48, was a recipient of the prestigious Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai award for music, died in a road accident in Makkah. His wife, Shamim, sons, daughter and cousins were injured in the accident. Faqir held a postgraduate in Sindhi literature and had released several Sindhi music albums.
