LAHORE:

Lahore High Court on Tuesday gave the Markazi Jamiat-i-Ahle Hadith amir another day to respond to a petition challenging the acceptance of his nomination papers for the Senate elections on a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz ticket.

Sajid Mir’s counsel was directed to submit the response on Wednesday (today).

Petitioner Qazi Hussain Siraj had submitted that though Mir was the head of MJAH he was contesting the election on the PML-N’s ticket. He had requested the court to declare Mir’s candidacy illegal and prevent him from contesting the election.

The petitioner had said that Mir was also not eligible to contest the election under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
