KARACHI:

Sindh Minister for Information and Local Bodies Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Thursday that the Clean Green and Peaceful Sindh campaign will see cleanliness drives in each and every town of the province.

He said that monitoring committees have been set up under commissioners, deputy commissioners and municipal officers to keep track of the pace of the campaign.

He was talking to the media after cutting the ribbon to mark the start of the construction of public toilets and lane marking project on II Chundrigar Road. The project is being sponsored by Medicam Group of Companies.

Memon said that a survey of schools operated by KMC was underway. “We will evaluate the needs of KMC schools and facilitate them in every manner,” he said.

“Helpline 1339 has been activated in Karachi to register the complaints of citizens regarding water and sewerage,” he said. The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) will set up a Reporting and Complaint Centre at its Karsaz office.

He reminded that Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has removed more than 150 illegal billboards over the last five days which were installed along various busy corridors in violation of advertisement bylaws.

Memon warned encroachers of strict action. “I will not rest until removal of encroachments from not only the city but the whole province,” he said.
