ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan Chairperson, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad lauded the role of partnerships between US and Pakistani universities in helping generate academic and research interest in the fields of social sciences and humanities. He said this while addressing concluding workshop on “Pakistan-US University Partnerships in Social Sciences and Humanities” that began here on Wednesday. These partnerships, a joint initiative of HEC and the US Embassy, have been an ongoing activity since 2012 aiming to establish long-term, ongoing relationships between Pakistani institutions. Under this programme, $1 million grant is funded by the US government and provided to American universities to establish a three-year partnership with a Pakistani university in social sciences and humanities.
