ISLAMABAD: In a first case of its kind, the election authorities have summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan to explain his position over a complaint regarding the misuse of party funds.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday issued notices to Imran and secretary general Jahangir Tareen on a petition filed by Akbar S Babar, who had alleged that PTI leadership misused funds.

Babar, a founding member of PTI, who later parted ways from Imran, had filed a petition with the ECP last year. The ECP has now issued notices to both parties to appear before the commission on February 23 at 10:00 am. The PTI leadership can appear in person, or send their counsel to defend themselves.

The PTI had denied the allegations when the petition was filed.

raider | 9 years ago | Reply @Karachiwala: ridiculously you should ask ECP, what he does say about rigging and money laundering and fake tax returns, engineer mian sb carrying all the ills to be rendering him no longer be pm, would SC listen the case of ashgar khan as it used to hear yousf galani case pertinent to Swiss letter issue, would ECP likely to call MIAN SB in what capacity he had made a speech at 11:23 and put question to senator turned minster claiming to have perpetrator of that speech, would EC likely to raise issue that Sharif brethren have been convicted by courts in plane hijacking case, i doubt it would take SC AND ECP think 1000 time for this because cases are relative to hijackers of Punjab
