While presidents often address auspicious occasions attended by the who's who, the Indian President graced a rather peculiar gathering on Friday.

Pranab Mukherjee addressed an eclectic gathering of tulips and daisies as he inaugurated the Mughal Garden at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

We have curated the event below from pictures released by the President's office on his verified Facebook page.

The grand inauguration ceremony was heavily covered by the media as is the want these days. It also flooded Mukherjee with potential "profile pictures" for his Facebook!

President Mukherjee then went on an official tour of the new garden, waving to the rows of flowers who had gathered from far and wide to see him.

Occasionally during the tour, he sat down to mentor some young tulips. 'Time solves everything!'

He shared a few light moments in an interactive session with red tulips.

When a section of the tulips became unruly because they felt neglected, he told them to 'talk to the hand.' The shocked flowers were disappointed they had been left in the lurch, just like the Kashmiris or Naxalites.

During his visit, he managed to take some time out to give important life advice to a few young tulips who had yet to leave the nursery.

Here is Mukherjee sharing a personal moment with some tangerines.

Blessed with a keen eye, Mukherjee pointed out the daisies from afar.

While visiting the tulips, President Mukherjee spotted a few familiar faces in the crowd.

Who knew tangerines could hold engaging debates with the President on the ins and outs of India's complex political branches.

Like any good President, Mukherjee knows how to mark his territory. The difference is the swag he brings while doing it.

Here he is doing it again with some pink tulips which are absolutely in awe of him.

And that marked the end of his tour to the Mughal Gardens.

But before he left, he had photographers take one more photo - for Facebook of course!
