KARACHI: Youngster Amir Tariq came back from 3-1 down to win a thrilling seven-setter against Aamir Shehzad on the fourth day of the Jubilee Insurance 40th National Ranking Snooker Championship in Karachi on Tuesday.

Tariq won with scores of 32-48, 44-70, 77-31, 24-62, 51-41, 59-08 and 64-39.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Ishtiaq defeated Ahsan Javaid 4-0 while Babar Masih had little trouble defeating Muhammad Faheem 4-1. Shahram Changezi won with a similar scoreline against Gul Afzal.

Former Pakistan number two, Sultan Muhammad registered an impressive 4-0 victory against Sharjeel Mehmood, winning with a scoreline of 73-45, 121-14, 91-05 and 75-08 while Muhammad Faizan stunned Sohail Shehzad 4-2.

In other matches, Rambail Gul defeated Shahid Aftab 4-3 in a closely-contested match as he triumphed with scores of 28-72, 43-80(79), 87-52, 08-61, 57-23, 61-47 and 67-0.

Defending champion Muhammad Asif Toba won 4-1 against Farhan Khan while youngster Hamza Akbar beat Muhammad Ijaz in a similar manner.
