Colombian-American actor Sofia Vergara seems to be on a role. After rising to fame with her stint as Gloria in the Emmy Award-winning show Modern Family, she now looks towards starring alongside Reese Witherspoon in the upcoming film Hot Pursuit and eyes marriage with fiancé, actor Joe Manganiello, by year end, reported usmagazine.com.
The action film, which is slated to release on May 8, revolves around a cop (Witherspoon) and a drug dealer’s wife (Vergara), who are on the run in Texas together. In the wake of this development, Vergara and Witherspoon have developed a strong connection with each other. “She is one of the funniest people I have met in my entire life. While working with her, I could literally not stop laughing. I think people are going to love her in this movie,” said Reese about her co-star, reported IANS.
On the relationship front, the 41-year-old actor and Manganiello are gearing up for their wedding. Vergara showed off her engagement ring at the recent Screen Actors Guild Awards, where she walked the red carpet for the first time as Manganiello’s fiancée, reported usmagazine.com. Although Vergara and her fellow Modern Family cast were beaten to the award for ‘Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy’ by the show Orange is the New Black, she said she was in a festive mood nonetheless.

“With me, it’s all about the bling so he knew what I needed,” she said as she showed off her diamond. “I opened it up and checked it to see,” she said, acting as if she’s biting the diamond to make sure it was real. “And then, I was like, ‘Yes!’,” she quipped. “No, I’m joking. He’s so handsome that it I would have said ‘okay’ anyway.”
The Magic Mike actor proposed to Vergara over the Christmas holidays. “He wanted to do it in front of her family,” said a source. Earlier, Manganiello revealed he had a huge crush on Vergara even before they got together. The two stars began dating over the summer after she called off her engagement with Nick Loeb, whom she had been dating since 2010.
The duo doesn’t believe in taking things slow and has already planned their big day, which is set to take place over coming fall. “We’re trying right now to figure it out,” Vergara said. “He’s shooting and promoting Magic Mike and I’m promoting my movie with Witherspoon, so we’re kind of busy. We’re trying to do it, maybe, [this] fall. This summer is too busy,” she added.
Although the date is still unconfirmed, Vergara is certain that her wedding day is going to be a huge celebration. “It’s going to be big,” she revealed grinningly. “We started off with 20 (on the guest list) and now, there are pages and pages.”
Vergara has earned her roles in films, such as The Smurfs, New Year’s Eve, Happy Feet Two, The Three Stooges, Escape from Planet Earth, and Machete Kills. She is currently seen in the seventh-running season of Modern Family.
