Spirituality: Urs of Khawaja Ghulam Fareed concludes

The three-day urs of Khawaja Ghulam Fareed concluded in Rajanpur on Wednesday. The 117th death anniversary celebrations of the sufi poet had started on Monday. Police estimated that 300,000 people visited Rajanpur from across the country.

Security remained high around the venue. Visitors were asked to show their national identity cards. As many as 1,500 police officials had been deputed for security duties. The urs kicked off with the cleaning of the shrine by caretaker Khawaja Moeenuddin Koreja. The first day of the urs had concluded with the Rasm-i-Charaghan.

Khawaja Fareed Aman Conference kicked off on Monday. More than 700 scholars from across the country participated. The government had announced a public holiday in Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan to facilitate those wanting to attend the urs. The celebrations concluded with jhoomar dances in Khawaj Fareed Aman Mela in Kot Mithan by thousands of his followers.
